Do you have any advice for a college freshman, I'm sorry to ask for college advice assuming that college was a long time ago for you but still do you remember anything that would be helpful advice for college newbies?
Yupp I’m in school, I’m a sophomore in college. I’m pretty excited to go back, this is gonna be a crazy semester for me. Umm well since last year I was a college newbie I guess I can give you some advice…
First just know college is not going to be like movies or however your picturing it. Sure it’s awesome but for the most part it consists of binge drinking coffee and crying over your laptop at 4 am cause you didn’t save the 8 page paper you just finished writing.
As cheesy and cliche as it is seriously be yourself. Don’t bullshit who you are just to seem cool. Like really, in college it doesn’t matter. People don’t give a shit if you’re cool or not. You’ll still find friends. Don’t pretend you like to do a certain thing or act a certain way, it’ll just make shit harder and take longer for you to meet your real friends and actually enjoy your time.
No matter how much of a morning person you think you are or how easy you think it’s gonna be DO NOT TAKE 8 AM CLASSES. Trust me just don’t.
Don’t stress too much about your grades. I’m not saying to fuck up but give yourself some credit. There are going to be some classes that you just absolutely hate and don’t understand and it’s ok to not be a straight A student. Obviously work your ass off but don’t hate yourself if you find something your not good at, we all have our weaknesses.
It’s ok not to stay friends with people from highschool.
Your life isn’t a tv show, it’s ok if you don’t find people you’re going to be friends with forever. This isn’t How I Met Your Mother, the people you meet your freshman year probably won’t even remember your name by the time you graduate.
Seriously though, just enjoy your time. Don’t have super high expectations but don’t prevent yourself from having fun. Whatever happens, it’s not the end of your life.
